Veronda Kay Sanders was 60 years old when she disappeared from Houston, Texas, on October 17, 2018. More than seven years later, her whereabouts remain unknown, and her family continues to search for answers regarding what happened to the Army veteran who vanished during a bicycle ride through her southeast Houston community. 

According to investigators, Veronda was last seen at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 5900 block of Westover Street in Houston. She was riding her bicycle at the time, and her destination was unknown. Authorities have not publicly released any confirmed sightings of Veronda after that evening, and her bicycle has never been located. 

Veronda is described as a Black female with a medium complexion. At the time of her disappearance, she was approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed between 135 and 150 pounds. She had brown hair, brown eyes, and pierced ears. She has a small rose tattoo on her shoulder, a pock mark on the tip of her nose, and small moles on the tops of both cheeks beneath her eyes. 

When she disappeared, Veronda was believed to have been riding a light teal-colored Huffy Good Vibrations Women’s Cruiser bicycle with a large black seat and no basket. Investigators have asked the public to be alert for any information about her bicycle, her movements, or anything unusual that may have occurred in the area where she was last seen. 

Before her disappearance, Veronda served in the United States Army, where she worked as a chef and completed a tour in Germany. Her family has continued to advocate for attention on her case, saying they want answers and closure. Media reports have highlighted the family's frustration that her disappearance did not initially receive the attention they hoped for. 

The circumstances surrounding Veronda’s disappearance remain unknown. There is no publicly confirmed explanation for why she vanished, and investigators continue to seek information that could help locate her.
