On October 6, 2024, 13-year-old Sa’Wade Birdinground was last seen at her family’s home in Garryowen, Montana, within the boundaries of the Crow Indian Reservation. It was late that night, around 11:00 p.m., when Sa’Wade was last known to be at home. The following morning, her family discovered that she was gone.

Sa’Wade’s disappearance was immediately concerning because leaving home without notice was considered out of character for her. There have been no known contacts with family or friends since she disappeared. Her case remains open, and investigators continue to seek information that could help determine what happened to her.

Sa’Wade was 13 years old at the time she went missing. She is a member of the Crow Tribe of Montana and is described as having brown, curly hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed between 130 and 140 pounds at the time of her disappearance.

She was last known to be wearing a black hoodie with mushrooms on it, an anime T-shirt, basketball shorts and purple slip-on Skechers shoes. Investigators say she may have had a black and purple Adidas backpack with her. Sa’Wade is also known to wear an elk tooth necklace.

The FBI has publicly listed Sa’Wade as a missing person and has asked the public to come forward with any information that could help locate her. In June 2025, the FBI announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to her recovery. That reward was later increased to $15,000.

Sa’Wade’s family has continued to keep her name and disappearance in the public eye. Her father, Wade Birdinground, has spoken about the devastating impact of not knowing where his daughter is and has continued to ask for help bringing her home.

More than a year and a half has now passed since Sa’Wade disappeared. Time has not diminished the importance of finding her. For her family, every unanswered question remains part of a story that has not yet reached its ending.
