Roxanne Elizabeth Paltauf

Roxanne Paltauf was 18 years old when she disappeared from Austin, Texas, on July 7, 2006. More than two decades later, her family continues to search for answers and remains determined to learn what happened to the young woman they describe as caring, creative, funny, and deeply devoted to her family.

Roxanne’s family last celebrated her 18th birthday by gathering together at an Austin roller rink, a memory her sister Rosa Schultz continues to cherish. Rosa described Roxanne as someone who valued her family, recalling that Roxanne once used her own money to arrange professional family photographs because she wanted to preserve those memories with the people she loved.

Shortly after that celebration, Roxanne disappeared from the Budget Inn near Rundberg Lane and Interstate 35 in Austin. According to investigators, Roxanne’s then boyfriend told police that the two had an argument and that she left the motel room afterward, leaving behind her personal belongings.

Roxanne’s family has questioned that account and has continued to believe that additional information about her disappearance remains unknown. Her sister has stated that the family became concerned after discovering phone activity and roaming charges on Roxanne’s cell phone hours after she was reportedly last seen, raising additional questions about what happened after she disappeared.

Over the years, Roxanne’s loved ones have worked tirelessly to keep her case active. Family members and volunteers have organized searches, distributed flyers, created awareness materials, and worked with organizations to bring attention to her disappearance. Law enforcement has previously stated that they believe criminal activity may have been involved, and Roxanne’s case remains open and active.

In an effort to encourage someone with information to come forward, Roxanne’s family has offered a $10,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction or information that leads to the discovery of her remains. Her family continues to hope that someone who knows what happened will eventually come forward.

Anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Roxanne Paltauf is urged to contact the Austin Police Department (512) 974-2000 or submit a tip through official missing persons resources. Information can be provided anonymously, and even details that may seem insignificant could help investigators determine what happened to Roxanne and bring answers to her family.
