Alexandria Joy “Ali” Lowitzer was 16 years old when she disappeared from Spring, Texas, on April 26, 2010. That morning began like any other school day as Ali attended classes at Spring High School. Before leaving campus that afternoon, she called her mother, Jo Ann Lowitzer, to ask for permission to walk to her part-time job at Burger Barn, located about a quarter-mile from her home, to pick up her paycheck and possibly work a few hours. 

School surveillance cameras captured Ali leaving campus and boarding her school bus. She got off at her usual stop on Low Ridge Road at approximately 2:44 p.m., only a short distance from her house. Two boys who exited the bus with her later told investigators that she was walking behind them while texting on her cell phone, and nothing appeared unusual. Ali sent what is believed to be her final text message to a friend at approximately 2:57 p.m. Her cell phone, which she used constantly, was never used again after that time. She never arrived at Burger Barn, never picked up her paycheck, and never returned home. 

Because Ali's mother believed she was either working or waiting to be picked up after her shift, she did not initially become alarmed when Ali was not home after work. Around 9:00 p.m., she drove to Burger Barn to pick her daughter up, only to find the restaurant closed and dark. Employees later confirmed that Ali had never arrived that afternoon. After unsuccessfully searching for her with family and friends, Ali's parents reported her missing that night. 

Her case was first classified as a runaway despite her family's insistence that such behavior was completely out of character. Ali left behind all of her personal belongings, including her makeup, clothes, money, jewelry, phone charger, and other items she regularly used. Her paycheck remained unclaimed, and there was no activity on her bank accounts or cell phone after the afternoon she disappeared. Her family also pointed out that Ali had upcoming plans with friends, enjoyed spending time at home, and had shown no indication that she intended to leave voluntarily.

In the days following her disappearance, extensive searches were conducted throughout the Spring area. The Laura Recovery Center coordinated hundreds of volunteers to search for Ali. Despite these efforts, no confirmed trace of Ali, her backpack, or her blue LG slide cell phone has ever been found. Investigators have received numerous tips over the years, but none have led to her location or identified what happened to her. 

The Harris County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate Ali's disappearance with assistance from the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP). 

Ali is described as a White female with brown hair that had been dyed dark red or black at the time of her disappearance and blue eyes. She stood approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed between 145 and 150 pounds. She had pierced ears and a pierced nose, wore pink braces on her upper and lower teeth, and had a faint chickenpox scar between her eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, a gray hooded sweatshirt, black-and-white checkered skinny jeans, black tennis shoes, and carrying a multicolored checkered backpack and a blue LG slide cell phone.
