Adrian Juan Planells disappeared from Kenner, Louisiana, during the early morning hours of September 24, 1989. The 23-year-old had finished his shift as a dishwasher at Casa Garcia restaurant on Veterans Memorial Boulevard and went with coworkers to Luc Eddie's Lounge, now known as the Westgate Tavern, on Mississippi Avenue. After having a couple of beers, he told his friends he was heading home because he planned to study for an upcoming college exam. Witnesses saw him leave the bar around 3:00 a.m., cross the street, get into his bluish-green 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, and drive away. He never arrived home and has never been seen again. 

Planells lived with his parents in Kenner and was known to be very close to his family. According to investigators, he left behind all of his clothing and personal belongings, and there has never been any activity on his bank account since the day he disappeared. Family members said it was completely out of character for him to leave without contacting them. He had no criminal record and no known reason to voluntarily disappear. 

One of the most puzzling aspects of the case is that neither Planells nor his car has ever been found. His vehicle, a bluish-green 1968 Chevrolet Camaro with numerous rust spots bearing Louisiana license plate 816B554, has never surfaced. Investigators have found no evidence that the car was ever sold, re-registered, or otherwise legally transferred after his disappearance. Despite decades of investigation, no physical evidence has been recovered that explains what happened after he left the lounge. 

Authorities have considered the possibility of foul play from the beginning. While no suspects or persons of interest have ever been publicly identified, investigators do not believe Planells simply walked away from his life. His disappearance remains an active unsolved missing person case more than three decades later.
