Justin Joseph Urrutia disappeared on November 08, 2023 near Interstate 10 in Pecos County, Texas, after abandoning his vehicle near mile marker 325 in the vicinity of Sheffield. Despite extensive searches by law enforcement and volunteers, his whereabouts remain unknown.

According to the Pecos County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began after a local landowner reported an abandoned vehicle on private property at approximately 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. The vehicle was found a few hundred yards off Interstate 10 after it had driven through a gate and attempted to travel down and back up a small mountain. Investigators believe the rough terrain caused the vehicle to become disabled about halfway up the hillside.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they found many of Justin's personal belongings still inside, including his wallet and cell phone. Investigators said it appeared that he left the vehicle with very few, if any, personal items, making the circumstances of his disappearance especially concerning.

During the investigation, deputies learned from Justin's family that he was prescribed medication for a mental health condition. Authorities have not publicly identified the specific condition but indicated that he relied on medication, increasing concerns for his safety after he disappeared.

The search for Justin has included a large-scale effort by the Pecos County Sheriff's Office using helicopters, drones, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and ground search teams. Despite covering a significant area around where his vehicle was found, no confirmed trace of Justin has been located.

Justin is described as a White male, 41 years old at the time of disappearance, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes, and deep dimples in both cheeks. Authorities have not been able to determine what clothing he was wearing when he disappeared.

The investigation remains active, and law enforcement continues to ask anyone who may have traveled through the area or observed anything unusual near Interstate 10 and Sheffield around the time of Justin's disappearance to come forward.
