Irma Galastica, a 32‑year‑old mother from Toronto, disappeared on August 31, 2024. In the days following her disappearance, her friends and family struggled to confirm her whereabouts, and it was only after repeated attempts to reach her that they realized she was missing. Her disappearance was first reported to Toronto Police, but investigators later determined that she had last been seen in Hamilton, not Toronto.

On the night she vanished, Galastica was at Sankofa, a Hamilton nightclub. Staff members told investigators that she was not a regular at the venue and spent most of the night in a booth with a group of men and another woman. She left the club with part of that same group before closing time. In the early hours of that morning, Hamilton Police shut down Sankofa for allegedly serving alcohol after hours, and the club never reopened. According to the club’s former owner, Sankofa was operating on generators that night, and its security cameras were not functioning, leaving no video evidence of Galastica’s movements inside the club.

One of Galastica’s close friends, Shemica Duncan, was among the first to notice something was wrong. Duncan realized that Galastica had stopped posting on social media and that her text messages were no longer going through. Concerned, she contacted Galastica’s family, and both she and the family reached out to police. Duncan later explained that she and Galastica had a complicated relationship with law enforcement due to past criminal charges, but there is no indication that Duncan’s outstanding charges are connected to Galastica’s disappearance.

Weeks passed without significant developments. Duncan, frustrated by the lack of progress, accessed Galastica’s Snapchat account using a password she remembered. She reviewed Galastica’s recent contacts and noticed a woman Galastica had befriended the same night she disappeared. Duncan contacted this woman, referred to publicly as “Jane”,  initially pretending to be Galastica in order to gather information. “Jane” confirmed that she and Galastica had met at the club and left together. She also provided the address of the location they went to after leaving Sankofa.

The address was a gated home on a large property on Old York Road in Burlington, approximately a 15‑minute drive from the club. This home was later investigated by police and was the last confirmed location where Galastica was seen. “Jane” has since declined to speak further with reporters or Galastica’s friends and has stopped responding to messages.

Toronto Police eventually issued a missing‑person alert, but it came weeks after Galastica disappeared and listed Burlington,  not Toronto, as the location she was last seen. Since then, Galastica’s family and friends have continued searching for answers, working alongside investigators and reporters to trace her movements on the night she vanished. Their efforts have included tracking down witnesses, identifying locations she visited, and attempting to reconstruct the events of August 31, 2024.
