Gary Dean Trivette was last in contact with a family member on July 25, 2026, and is believed to have been at his residence in Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina, around the time of his disappearance. Approximately three weeks passed without contact before his missing-person case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) on August 17, 2026. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

He is described as having brown hair, hazel eyes, and a beard that appears to be partially gray or white. Neither his last known location nor his primary residence was identified as being on tribal land.
