Wilda Mae Benoit
Wilda Mae Benoit was 14 years old when she disappeared from Creole, Louisiana, in Cameron Parish, on July 23, 1992. Her disappearance remains unsolved, and more than three decades later, her family and investigators continue to seek answers about what happened to her.
Wilda was last seen at her Aunt & Uncle's residence in Creole on the evening of July 23, 1992. At the time, she had recently been released from the hospital after suffering a shoulder injury and was recovering while taking pain medication. The following morning, Wilda was gone. There has been very little publicly released information about what happened during the hours between when she was last seen and when her disappearance was discovered. Authorities initially considered the possibility that she had run away, but her family has never believed she left on her own.
Wilda's case gained national attention years later when her photograph was featured in the music video for "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum, which highlighted missing children and teens across the United States. Her image helped bring awareness to her disappearance and continues to be recognized by many who advocate for missing children.
At the time she disappeared, Wilda was described as a White female with brown hair and blue eyes. She was approximately 5 feet tall and weighed around 100 pounds. She had pierced ears and dimples.
