Wendy Danniel Kent
Wendy Danniel Kent was 35 years old when she disappeared from Rosedale, Louisiana, in Iberville Parish, on September 7, 2002. Her disappearance remains unsolved, and investigators have long suspected that she was the victim of foul play.
On the day she disappeared, Wendy met with her sister, Nicole Griffin. Before they parted ways, Wendy hugged her sister, kissed her goodbye, and told her to go home and wait for her. Nicole later recalled that it was the last time she ever saw Wendy. Wendy was in the middle of a divorce and was returning to her former husband's home in Rosedale to celebrate one of her children's birthdays.
According to her ex-husband, Wendy left the residence later that day with an unidentified person. She has never been seen or heard from again. After she was reported missing, deputies located her van parked in the driveway of the home. Her identification was still inside the vehicle, but there was no sign of Wendy.
Family members have consistently said Wendy would never have voluntarily abandoned her children. Her sister has spent years keeping the case in the public eye by saving police reports, news articles, and other records related to the investigation. In a 2010 interview, Nicole Griffin said she believed her sister was no longer alive but wanted answers and the opportunity to bring her home. Wendy's disappearance has also taken a tremendous emotional toll on her mother, who struggled for years with the uncertainty surrounding the case.
Investigators with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office have spent thousands of hours following leads over the years. Although detectives have publicly stated they believe foul play was involved, they have never identified a suspect or disclosed what evidence led them to that conclusion. The Louisiana Attorney General's Office also assisted in the investigation. Despite years of work, Wendy has never been found.
To encourage new leads, Wendy's family offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of her remains or to the arrest of the person responsible for her disappearance. That reward reflected their determination to continue searching for answers even after years had passed without a breakthrough.
At the time of her disappearance, Wendy was described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She had a butterfly tattoo on her lower back, a birthmark on her right buttock, pierced ears, and was last seen wearing a pullover shirt, dark blue shorts, slip-on sandals, diamond earrings, and an antique thumb ring with the letter "W."
