Day of Disappearance
Kyron Horman was last seen on the morning of June 4, 2010, at Skyline Elementary School in Portland, Oregon, attending his school’s science fair. He has not been seen or heard from since. At the time, he was seven years old. Kyron has brown hair, blue eyes, and wears glasses. He also has a distinct V-shaped strawberry birthmark on his forehead.
On the day of his disappearance, Kyron was wearing a black t-shirt with "CSI" in green letters and a handprint graphic. He was also wearing black cargo pants, white socks, and black Skechers sneakers with orange trim. Kyron may have had his glasses on at the time.
Details of the disappearance
Seven-year-old Kyron Horman arrived at Skyline Elementary School excited to show off his red-eyed tree frog project at the science fair. His stepmother, Terri Horman, walked him into the building around 8:00 AM. She snapped a photo of him smiling proudly in his black t-shirt and glasses. Terri stated she watched him walk down the hallway toward his first class, and she then left the school.
The school day proceeded normally, but Kyron never arrived at his classroom. Because his teacher assumed he was with his stepmother at a doctor's appointment, his absence did not trigger an alarm. The terrifying reality only came to light at 3:30 PM when the school bus pulled up to Kyron’s neighborhood, and he was not on it.
What followed was the largest search and rescue operation in Oregon history. Hundreds of investigators and volunteers scoured the dense, rugged woods around the school and the Horman home. Days bled into weeks with no physical evidence, no clothing, and no signs of the boy.
As the search stalled, the focus of the investigation shifted sharply inward toward Terri Horman. Cell phone records placed her driving around the area during the hours Kyron disappeared, and a standard polygraph test reportedly raised red flags for investigators. The tension escalated dramatically when a landscaper claimed Terri had tried to hire him to murder her husband, Kaine, months prior. Kaine immediately filed for divorce, took custody of their infant daughter, and moved out under police protection.
For years, Kyron's biological mother, Desiree Young, has led an unrelenting public campaign to find her son, openly accusing Terri of involvement. Terri Horman has consistently maintained her innocence, stating in rare media interviews that she loved Kyron and had nothing to do with his disappearance.
No arrests have ever been made, no charges have been filed, and Kyron Horman has never been found. Investigators still treat the case as an active, ongoing investigation, holding onto the hope that a single missing piece of information will finally bring Kyron home.
