Howard Vardaman Barnett disappeared from Memphis, Tennessee, on July 18, 2017. He was 38 years old at the time and is now in his late 40s. Howard was a devoted father of two daughters and worked as a tax professional. According to his family, he was known for staying in close contact with loved ones and regularly checked in with his mother.

On the day he vanished, Howard had taken lunch to his daughters at summer camp. Later that evening, around 10:00 p.m., he called his girlfriend and told her he was stopping by a cousin's home. He never arrived, never returned home, and no one has heard from him since. His cellphone went unanswered after that call.

The following morning, Howard's family was able to track his cellphone to an area near Jefferson Avenue in downtown Memphis, but the signal soon disappeared. Six days after he went missing, Memphis police issued a City Watch alert for Howard and his silver 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan. A short time later, the van was discovered more than 60 miles away near the Shelby County and Fayette County line. It had been intentionally burned. Despite extensive searches and numerous tips, Howard has never been located. 

Over the years, Howard's family has continued searching for answers and has repeatedly appealed to the public for information. Investigators have followed leads, but none have resulted in locating him or determining what happened after his final phone call. As of today, his disappearance remains an active unsolved missing person case. 

Howard is a African American male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs between 170 and 180 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
