David Allen Crabtree was 13 years old when he disappeared from his home in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, on April 9, 2000. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation and was described as a teenager who had a history of running away, but he had always either returned home or been found nearby. This time was different. 

A few days before his disappearance, David had run away from home and was found about 15 miles away in Pryor, Oklahoma. Police returned him to his parents after discovering he had been drinking alcohol. Hoping to address his behavior, his parents enrolled him in a juvenile center in Claremore. However, he was discharged and sent home after being caught drinking again. 

On April 8, 2000, just two days after returning home, David spent the evening with his family. Before going to bed, he told his parents and sister that he loved them. Later that evening, sometime between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m., three boys came to his bedroom window. They asked David's sister if she wanted to go with them, but she declined. David then climbed out of his bedroom window to meet the boys and left with them. He has never been seen again.

Investigators believe David may have been seen in the Oklahoma communities of Pryor, Tahlequah, or Kenwood after his disappearance, but none of those sightings have ever been confirmed. Unlike his previous runaways, there has been no verified contact with David since the night he left home.

Because David had a history of running away, his disappearance was initially viewed in that context. As time passed without any confirmed sightings or communication, investigators became increasingly concerned that something more serious may have happened. His disappearance remains unsolved, and his case is still classified as an endangered runaway. 

At the time he disappeared, David was wearing a gray shirt and black pants. He is biracial (White and Native American), of Cherokee descent, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He has a scar on one eyebrow, a scar on the front of his head, and had previously injured his clavicle. 

More than two decades later, investigators continue to seek answers about what happened after David climbed out of his bedroom window on the night of April 8, 2000.
