Angela Marie Hammond disappeared from Clinton, Missouri, on the night of April 4, 1991. The 20-year-old was four months pregnant with her first child and was engaged to Rob Shafer. Around 11:15 p.m., Angela drove to a payphone at the Food Barn grocery store on South Second Street to call Rob while he was at home. During the conversation, she mentioned seeing an unfamiliar man driving an older model green Ford pickup truck circle the parking lot several times. She told Rob the man had parked nearby and had gotten out of the truck to fish beside a nearby creek before returning to his vehicle. She then said the man had moved his truck closer to her. 

While they were still talking, Rob suddenly heard Angela scream, "Robbie!" before the phone went dead. He immediately got into his truck and drove toward the payphone. As he approached the area, he saw a green pickup truck leaving the parking lot. Rob noticed a woman struggling with the driver and believed it was Angela. He turned his truck around and chased the pickup. During the pursuit, his transmission failed, forcing him to stop. The pickup disappeared into the night, and Angela was never seen again. 

When police arrived, they found evidence that Angela had been abducted. Her purse was still inside her car, and the receiver of the payphone was hanging off the hook. Witnesses reported seeing an older-model green Ford pickup, possibly a late 1960s or early 1970s model, with a white or lighter-colored top and a distinctive fish decal on the rear window. The driver was described as a white male between 35 and 40 years old, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, with a stocky build, glasses, a mustache, and medium-length hair. Despite extensive efforts, neither the truck nor the driver was identified at the time. 

Over the years, investigators have pursued numerous leads. One theory suggested Angela's abduction may have been linked to another attempted kidnapping that occurred in Clinton about an hour earlier, involving a woman named Pamela. She reported that a man driving a similar green pickup truck tried to lure her into his vehicle before driving away when she refused. Authorities have never confirmed whether the two incidents were connected, but they have continued to consider the possibility. Investigators have also examined other suspects and tips throughout the years, but no one has ever been charged in Angela's disappearance. 

Angela's disappearance has remained one of Missouri's most well-known unsolved cases. More than three decades later, investigators continue to believe she was abducted, but her whereabouts and the fate of her unborn child remain unknown.
