Angela Lee Freeman disappeared from Petal, Mississippi, on September 10, 1993. She was 17 years old and approximately four months pregnant at the time. Around 1:00 a.m., she was last seen in the parking lot of the Pizza Hut restaurant in Petal, talking with her former boyfriend, who was believed to be the father of her unborn child. According to investigators, he had a new girlfriend and did not want to raise a child. That conversation was the last confirmed sighting of Angela. 

Just a few hours later, at approximately 6:40 a.m., Angela's silver 1984 Honda hatchback was found abandoned at the Old Mahned Bridge over the Leaf River in Perry County, Mississippi. The car's windows were rolled down, but Angela was nowhere to be found. Investigators initially believed a liquid near the vehicle was transmission fluid, but later testing confirmed it was Angela's blood. Additional blood was also found inside the car. Several days later, tracking dogs searched the area and located one of Angela's white Keds shoes in tall grass near the bridge. The other shoe was discovered beyond a locked gate leading to a private camp. Her purse and keys were never recovered, and extensive searches of the Leaf River failed to locate any trace of her. 

Investigators do not believe Angela left on her own. In the days before her disappearance, she had made a car payment, purchased groceries, and put an item on layaway. She also left behind a paycheck worth more than $200, something her family said she would not have done if she planned to disappear. Angela had been studying for her GED and hoped to become an X-ray technician or a nurse. Although she was not especially close to her parents, they said she would never have left without telling someone where she was going. 

Angela's family has long criticized the early stages of the investigation, saying law enforcement initially treated her as a runaway despite the blood evidence found at the scene. Authorities now classify the case as a criminal investigation and believe foul play was involved. Over the years, investigators have looked into several leads. Angela's parents have publicly stated they believe they know who was responsible for her disappearance but have never identified that person publicly. Investigators have also sought to identify a man who was reportedly washing his truck in Gulfport, Mississippi, around the time Angela disappeared and had reportedly been hunting near the Mahned Bridge earlier that day. He has never been identified or publicly named as a suspect. No one has ever been charged, and Angela has never been found. 

More than three decades later, Angela Freeman's disappearance remains unsolved.
